The idea that stained glass is made up of many unique fragments which combine to create an incredible piece of art seems suiting for a group made up of young adults (ages 18-35ish) who are still sorting out their own fragments and deciding what fragments exist in this world and community.
The ministry to young adults is one of the most mysterious, intimidating tasks a church could face. It is surrounded by uncertainty: What caused them to leave the church? Do they seek traditional or contemporary worship? How attractive do we have to be to draw them in? Where are they spiritually? How on earth do we communicate with them?
Having recently graduated from college, I was somewhat clued in to what college students in this community might respond to. Campus ministry was available and politically-perfectly-interdenominational ...which was fine, but not nearly as stimulating as a community of faith that belonged to certain beliefs. I, however, don't represent the entire student body of the college in this town, but that does not reduce the NEED for something different. Another option.
This platform will serve as my documentation of this ministry, where I can return and evaluate what I'm learning in the process. If you'd like to follow what I'm doing with this group, come back and visit FitchGirlWorld to stay caught up with this exciting adventure.
